What to Wear
DO THE MOST IN 16 ARLINGTON
The Pared Back Nuptials
It’s late May, the weather has been iffy, but finally the day has arrived. You’re getting married. You got engaged during the lockdown of Christmas 2020 – the bleakest time ever, made infinitely better by the huge sapphire presented to you by your love on December 24th. You used to fantasise about getting married in all lace Oscar de la Renta or maybe a cleavage baring Vivienne Westwood (blame Sex and the City) – but 2020 sucked that all out of you, especially after experiencing 14 months of leisurewear. One thing the pandemic has taught you is the need for comfort, freedom and the importance of being yourself. You were soon imagining wrapping yourself up in silky satin coords… and that was it – the fantasy of wearing pyjamas to your own wedding was confirmed.
Full blown pjs were never the dream though, more a slinky matchy-matchy lewk – Le Smoking without the tailoring. 16 Arlington’s feathered wide leg trousers and matching shirt is not for the faint of heart. The OTT shirt collar has a distinct Saturday Night Fever vibe and should really be worn buttoned up to the top for effect. You fell in love with its modern off-white/champagne hue and abundance of soft tumbling feathers – there was never a more perfect bridal look. You’ve decided to finish off the ensemble with a minimalist birdcage veil (no band in sight), Pat McGrath’s Flesh 4 gloss and outrageously high heels – because you wanted to be comfortable, but not that comfortable.
