The Non-bridal, Bridal Designer
PHEOBE PHILO. A FASHION GENIUS.
Céline with Phoebe Philo at the helm was more than a moment – it was fashion history. Philo, a female designer, transformed the French brand simply into the coolest – fans actually mourned her leaving to the point they couldn’t let her go (see @oldceline on Instagram). With Philo as Creative Director, Céline was edgy, new, desirable and heavily anticipated every season. Despite her being out of the game for a good 2 years, looking through her back catalogue there were looks upon looks that could work for the fashion-first bride. Philo may have missed a trick, so here are 3 killer looks for the fantasy Céline bride (if you really fall in love with something – good luck searching Vestiaire).
1.
WHAT: Look 1 Autumn/Winter 2013
WHY: Cream bouclé may not be the go to for bridal fabric, but this 2-piece was made for early autumn nuptials.
THE BRIDE: A hardcore Philo fan she spent years exclusively wearing Céline suits to the boardroom. Tailoring is her thing - bride or not.
2.
WHAT: Look 14 Spring/Summer 2017
WHY: The Celine woman isn’t the Versace woman, but this is Philo doing unashamedly SEXY and who doesn’t love a sexy bride?
THE BRIDE: Not shy, she wanted to look and feel like herself. Black’s her favourite colour, so in this look she got to wear it without devastating her Mother-in-Law, kind of.
3.
WHAT: Look 18 Spring/Summer 2018
WHY: This is as close to tradition bridal gets in the world of Old Céline - the lace, the colour, the gathered details but together it still possesses the signature Philo edge.
THE BRIDE: At first she was considering some Valentino couture, but changed her mind last-minute because she can’t resist a midi-length that shows off her shoes. And yes, she will be wearing the boots too.
