A FEATHERED BALENCIAGA BAG, AW17

When does a woman ever go without a handbag? Is there ever an occasion when one isn’t an essential part of every look? Bags are a necessity, because they’re practical and more importantly look better than you could ever imagine with complementing footwear, but there’s a group of women who apparently don’t need bags – brides.

When it comes to typical wedding ensemble handbags seem to be the forgotten accessory. Every guest may be desperate to know the colour scheme the bride is going for, or whether she’s thinking of a trailing bouquet versus a more low-key floral arrangement, but honestly aren’t bouquets kind of done? Done meaning, very nice and everything, but isn’t it time for something new?

Floral bouquets are often a very expensive part of the bride’s look and they die…or get thrown towards an unwitting guest. WHAT. A. WASTE. Now, consider a beautiful tiny bag. Consider carrying a boxy pearl covered beauty from Shrimps down the aisle, rather than those white hydrangeas.

A handbag can be carried for decades to come. It could be a future ice-breaker at a party if chosen really well and on the  day of the actual nuptials, a number of essentials could happily be carried around by a bride with ease, rather than having to locate the maid of honour every 30 seconds. The bridal bag may be more suited to fashion mavericks, but if bouquets really are here to stay brides should consider swapping their flowers out for a cute bag - at least when it’s time to hit the dance floor.
